President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo believes that whoever the New Patriotic Party (NPP) chooses as its presidential candidate would win the 2024 elections.
He stated that it should be the responsibility of the whole ruling party’s rank and file to do all possible to ensure that the goal is met.
“I am quite certain that on December 7, 2024, the next NPP Presidential Candidate would win the elections.”
On Wednesday, August 5, President Akufo-Addo spoke at the 29th anniversary of the elephant party, whose slogan has been “Development of Freedom.”
The party was formed on July 28, 1992, but opted to commemorate the occasion eight days later, on July 29, 1992. It also coincided with the 74th anniversary of the establishment of the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC), the party from which the NPP sprung.
“Yesterday, the country commemorated the start of its battle for independence, which began on August 4, 1947, in Saltpond. Today we celebrate the 29th anniversary of the New Patriotic Party, the party that has devoted itself to furthering the ideas and values that were formed on that day, August 4, 1947.”
He encouraged the party’s supporters to keep going from strength to strength in order to keep the party in power for a long time.
“It is our obligation to do all it takes to ensure victory.
“In Ghana, we must keep moving forward. We cannot accept the occasional reversal of course. It has not helped our country and will not benefit our country.
“The foundations that we have set today for the development of our nation will be undermined if, once again, we allow the route to advancement to be diverted by our own fault.”
