Fulham has been relegated to the Championship.
Fulham have been relegated from the Premier League after losing 2-0 to Burnley on Monday night.
The Cottagers went into their match against Burnley in 18th place knowing that a loss
would send them straight back to the Championship next season,
while a draw would leave them needing to win all three of their remaining games and hope that either Burnley, Southampton, or Brighton & Hove Albion lose their final three.
Burnley won 2-0 at Craven Cottage this evening, confirming their survival and relegating Fulham in the process,
thanks to goals from Ashley Westwood and Chris Wood in the first half.
With only three games remaining, Scott Parker’s side is now 18th in the table with 27 points, 10 points from safety.
Fulham’s relegation comes just one day after West Bromwich Albion’s immediate relegation was confirmed following their Sunday loss to Arsenal.
Sheffield United will also play in the Championship next season,
ensuring that for the first time in Premier League history,
all three relegation spots have been secured with three games to spare.
Fulham, who have been relegated from the Premier League or promoted to the top flight in each of the last four seasons,
will end their stay in the division with games against Southampton,
Manchester United and Newcastle United.
