Professor Samuel Kobina Annim, the Government Statistician, announced on Wednesday that the year-on-year inflation rate for August was 9.7%, up from 9.0% in July.
Between July 2021 and August 2021, month-on-month inflation was 0.3 percent.
Prof Annim, speaking at a news conference in Accra, said food and non-alcoholic beverages were the main causes of the increased inflation rate in August 2021.
He said that food accounted for more than half of overall inflation, with housing accounting for more than two-thirds and transportation accounting for more than four-fifths.
