LOS ANGELES, A lady was charged today in East Los Angeles with the murders of her three children earlier this week.
“Three innocent children were taken from us in a flash, and we are heartbroken,” said District Attorney George Gascón. “There is nothing more painful than a parent’s tragic failure to protect their children.”
Sandra Chico, 28, was charged with three counts of murder and three counts of assault on a child resulting in death.
Deputies from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a home in the 600 block of Ferris Avenue on June 28. Mia R., 3-years-old, Mason R., 2-years-old, and Milan R., 1-month-old, were found dead when they arrived.
Officials have not said how the children died, but family members claim Chico suffocated them, according to KABC.
The grandma told the channel, “I won’t criticise her.” “I wish her the best of luck. She is also a victim of depression, which is her illness. Even more so during these periods when people were unable to leave their homes. She was seldom seen going out.”
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is still looking into the situation.
