Nuno Tavares, a defender for Benfica, has turned down a move to Real Sociedad in favour of joining Arsenal, according to the Daily Mail.
Given that Sead Kolasinac is slated to leave this summer, the Gunners are on the lookout for a replacement left back.
Kieran Tierney is a good player, but he’s had a lot of injuries in the past, so Edu needed to find another left defender as soon as possible.
Tavares turns down Sociedad in favour of Arsenal.
Tavares has been expected to join Arsenal in the last week, with A Bola reporting on Thursday that the left defender has said his goodbyes to Benfica ahead of his £8.6 million move.
Real Sociedad is said to have made a last-minute attempt to hijack the transfer, reportedly offering a more lucrative contract than Arsenal’s.
That hasn’t swayed Tavares, and he will continue to sign with Arsenal in the coming days.
