Day in and day out, companies increases prices of commodities, and the National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers is no exception.
In a statement, the association announced its decision to increase the prices of sachet water from 50p to 60p. Additionally, the price of a bag of water will also go for 10 cedis. These new developments will take effect from October 31, 2022.
Furthermore, National Association of Sachet and Packaged Water Producers categorically stated that, the price of a bag of water may differ from one retailer to another. Depending on the the location of the retailer, prices may range between GH12.00 and GH15.00
Even worse, the prices for the different sizes of bottled water will range from GHC 2.50 to GHC 5.00.
Why The Sudden Increment?
According to the aforementioned association, most packaged water enterprises are unable to purchase sufficient supplies, and others are also unable to withstand working capital losses of 45% as a result of the new plastic film and preform pricing released by the Ghana Plastic Manufacturers Association (GPMA).
Hence, the association is forced to raise prices in order to support the viability of packaged water companies.
