After a third rescue flight, more than 160 Australian and Afghan people were evacuated from Kabul, according to Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison.
Morrison said that 60 Australians and Afghans who aided Australia throughout the 20-year conflict were flown to the UAE overnight.
He said the first Australian flight carrying 94 evacuees arrived in Perth, Australia’s west coast city, on Friday.
He stated that Australia would be unable to evacuate sections of Afghanistan beyond the Kabul airport. Morrison stated, “The situation in Kabul remains chaotic.” The Australian government has not responded to claims in the media that it planned to evacuate 600 Australians and Afghans.
